It feels like you are stuck in a loop of behaviors you don’t understand…

You used to be spontaneous, care free and enjoy life.

Then you wake up one day and your life is completely unrecognizable.

You find yourself wondering…

  • What is wrong with me?

  • Why do I act like this?

  • Can I ever get back to normal?

The right question might be, What happened to you?

Trauma comes in different forms.

There is acute trauma, from a big event such as a natural disaster, car accident, war, sudden loss of a loved one, home fire or a violent act.

There is also complex trauma which is the result of less obvious stressors occurring over time; a critic in your life, a loved one who withholds affection, or ongoing mental and physical abuse.

When our stress responses are repeatedly activated our nervous system becomes overloaded and we find ourselves in survival mode. Fight, Flight, Freeze, Fawn.

  • Fight - anger, aggression, controlling, explosive, hypervigilant, hostile, judgmental, rigid, self destructive

  • Flight - avoidant, addictions, binge watching, chronic worry, compulsions, escape, eating disorders, fantasizing, numbing, spacy or foggy, smart phone checking.

  • Freeze - frozen, guarded, heart racing, no voice, panic attacks, social anxiety, terrified, no voice.

  • Fawn - caretaking of others, conflict avoidance, flying under the radar, over apologizing, pacifying behaviors, people pleasing, responsible for others emotions, self sacrificing, shame, unable to say no.

It’s overwhelming to be stuck in a cycle of trauma responses. The distress is compounded because you don’t understand why you are behaving the way you do.

If you find yourself stuck in these cycles, then I’m glad you are here.

You need to know you are not broken. Your system is responding the way it was designed to respond; just along the way it got stuck.

I want you to know you are not alone in this, therapy can help.

Therapy can help you understand the root causes of your trauma responses.

Healing trauma is possible through therapy.

I work with both EMDR therapy and an IFS informed approach to help create true emotional change.

You are meant to heal.

EMDR therapy helps the brain process traumatic memories and allows normal healing to resume.

Through an IFS informed approach, we identify the parts of you that carry the trauma and work individually with each part to heal the system.

Clients I have worked with have said they

  • Feel like a burden has been lifted, like shedding a weight they have carried for years.

  • Everyday life events feel less distressing.

  • They feel less reactive in relationships, as their emotions don’t spike.

Ultimately, it’s about getting out of the cycle of trauma, dropping that weight off your shoulders, and feeling free again.

I specialize in working with trauma, and would be honored to help you on your journey. Let's talk.

Rates & FAQ

  • The rate for Individual Counseling is $135 per 50 Minute Session.

  • At this time, I do not accept any insurance and am considered to be an out-of-network provider. I encourage each prospective client to speak to their insurance company regarding their policy and benefits.

If you would like to use your insurance, I can offer a superbill upon request. This is a bill showing that you have paid for your sessions including the amount paid. The superbill has all of the codes and information needed so that you can submit to your insurance company for any reimbursement for which you are eligible. This can be supplied after receipt of payment for the session.

Filing for reimbursement is a personal choice, but many have had success with getting some reimbursement and it may go towards your deductible in these instances. Reimbursement rates depend on the insurance company and policy

  • Many of my clients actually prefer to work with me privately and not involve their insurance at all. There are several reasons for this preference.

    • In order to use your insurance for counseling, a mental health diagnosis is required which will then be attached to your permanent medical record.

    • There can be a lack of confidentiality as the insurance company can require the therapist to disclose information about treatment that would otherwise be considered protected information. Insurance information does not have the same legal protections of confidentiality as the relationship with the therapist. Once this information is in your medical record it can be requested by third parties for various reasons that may or may not have the ability to request the same information from your therapist.

    • Insurance can also put limitations on the number of counseling sessions or types of therapy you can have based on your diagnosis. This sometimes requires ending therapy prior to truly completing the process.

  • Yes, virtual sessions are available to anyone in Texas. Sessions are through a HIPPA compliant video platform. You will be sent a link to join the appointment at the scheduled time.

  • Therapy can feel overwhelming especially when it is your first time. I try to make the first session as easy and comfortable as possible. I will meet you in the waiting area at your appointment time.

We will return to my office where we will go over the intake forms and informed consent for therapy. I want to make sure you understand the forms you completed and answer any questions you might have.

We will spend the remainder of the session getting to know each other. I might ask questions about your history. I feel it is important to understand how you see yourself and the world based upon your prior experiences. I let this lens inform your course of treatment.

Before we end, you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you have and then decide if you would like to schedule further appointments.
